Ingredients

  • 2 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1/3 c. lukewarm water
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1 egg
  • 2 c. lukewarm water or milk
  • plain flour

Method

  • Cream shortening and sugar; add salt, egg, warm water or milk and yeast mixture.
  • Begin adding flour to make a stiff dough. Turn into a greased bowl and cover with cloth.
  • When double in bulk, knead and roll out.
  • Cut out and place on pans brushed with butter or margarine.
  • Brush tops of rolls with butter.
  • Let rise in a warm place.
  • Bake in hot oven at 450° for 10 to 15 minutes.
