Ingredients

  • 2T grapeseed oil
  • 6 cloves garlic, smashed
  • 1 T tomato paste
  • 1 1/2 T chile powder
  • 1 T paprika
  • 1 T red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 tsp allspice
  • pinch ground cloves
  • 2 C ketchup
  • 2 C water
  • 1/2 C apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 C molasses
  • 1/4 C dark brown sugar
  • 1 T kosher salt
  • 1 T soy sauce
  • 1 T worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tsp yellow mustard
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 4-5 chopped datil peppers

Method

  • heat oil in a med saucepan over med heat. STir in garlic, tomato paste, chile powder, paprika, red pepper, allspice and cloves and cook until past is dark brick red about 3 min.
  • Add remaining ingredients. Adjust heat to maintain a gentle simmer and cook until flavors blend about 30 min
