Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 c. butter, softened
  • 3 c. sifted flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cloves
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 1 lb. candied cherries
  • 6 slices candied pineapple, diced
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. allspice
  • 6 c. pecan pieces
  • 2 c. diced dates

Method

  • Cream butter and sugar until light.
  • Beat eggs.
  • Add sifted dry ingredients and milk; mix well.
  • Pour batter over nuts and fruit; mix thoroughly.
  • Drop from teaspoon on cookie sheet.
  • Bake at 325° for 20 to 25 minutes.
