Ingredients

  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/4 c. water
  • 2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • oil for deep frying

Method

  • Beat egg yolks, vanilla, salt and water together until lemon colored.
  • Stir sugar into flour; mix liquid and dry ingredients together.
  • Knead on a floured board until surface blisters.
  • Cut to 2-inch parallelograms and slit center from longest points of dough.
  • Curl back tops to slit in opposite directions.
  • Fry in deep hot pot until brown.
  • Makes 3 dozen.
