Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 c. flour
  • 1/4 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/4 c. water
  • 4 (1 oz.) sq. unsweetened chocolate
  • 1 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1 1/4 tsp. baking soda
  • 2/3 c. margarine, softened
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 3 eggs

Method

  • Melt chocolate, then combine all ingredients but eggs in mixing bowl.
  • Mix well, then beat 2 minutes at medium speed with electric mixer.
  • Add eggs; beat an additional 2 minutes.
  • Spoon 1/4 of batter into each of 4 greased and floured 9-inch cake pans. Bake at 350° for 15 to 18 minutes.
