Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. unsifted flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2/3 c. butter
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 4 Tbsp. water
  • 2 (12 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet morsels
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 c. chopped nuts (optional)

Method

  • Preheat oven to 325°.
  • In a small bowl, combine flour, baking soda and salt; set aside.
  • In a small saucepan, combine butter, sugar and water.
  • Bring just to a boil, then remove from heat. Add 1 package semi-sweet morsels and vanilla.
  • Stir until morsels melt and mixture is smooth.
  • Transfer to a large bowl.
  • Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • Gradually blend in flour mixture.
  • Stir in remaining package of morsels and nuts (optional).
  • Spread into greased 9 x 13-inch baking pan.
  • Bake 50 to 60 minutes.
  • Cool completely before cutting.
