Ingredients

  • 5 c. sugar
  • 1 c. white Karo syrup
  • 1 c. water
  • whites of 3 eggs
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 c. chopped nuts

Method

  • Cook sugar, syrup and water to soft ball stage; remove from heat.
  • Take out 1 cup sugar mixture and stir into stiffly beaten egg whites; set aside.
  • Return remaining syrup mixture to heat and cook to hard ball stage; pour slowly into egg mixture, beating continuously.
  • Add vanilla and nuts; beat until it starts to harden.
  • Pour into a greased 9 x 13-inch pan to cool.
  • Cut into squares while still warm.
