Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1 c. warm water
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/3 c. sugar
  • 1/4 c. Crisco oil
  • 1 egg
  • 3 1/2 c. flour (approximately)

Method

  • In a mixing bowl, soak yeast in water for 5 minutes.
  • Add salt, sugar, oil, egg and 2 cups flour.
  • Beat 2 minutes.
  • Add 1 1/2 cups flour; mix in with wooden spoon.
  • Place dough on a floured pastry cloth.
  • Knead until dough is elastic, approximately 8 minutes. Place in a greased bowl.
  • Cover; let raise in warm spot until doubled, approximately 1 1/2 hours.
  • Shape into rolls and put into 2 greased (9 or 10-inch) round pans.
  • Raise 1 1/2 hours.
  • Bake at 350° for 20 to 25 minutes.
  • Yields 14 to 16 rolls.
