Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. dry yeast (or 1 cake compressed)
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. instant minced onion
  • 2 tsp. dill seed
  • 3/4 tsp. baking soda
  • 2 1/4 to 2 1/2 c. flour
  • 1/4 c. warm water
  • 1 c. creamed cottage cheese, heated to lukewarm
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 unbeaten egg

Method

  • Soften yeast in water.
  • Combine in mixing bowl, cottage cheese, sugar, onion, butter, dill, salt, baking soda, egg and yeast.
  • Add flour to form a stiff dough, beating well after each addition.
  • Cover and let rise in warm place (50 to 60 minutes). Stir down dough and turn into greased 8 inch round casserole (1 1/2 or 2 quart).
  • Let rise in warm place until light (30 to 40 minutes).
  • Bake at 350° for 30 to 40 minutes.
  • Brush with soft butter and sprinkle with salt.
