Ingredients
- 1/2 stick butter or margarine
- 1 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1 egg
- 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 (8 oz.) pkg. dates, chopped
- 1 c. chopped walnuts
Method
- Cream butter and sugar.
- Add egg; beat well.
- Combine flour, salt and baking powder; add to creamed mixture.
- Add vanilla; beat well.
- Stir in dates and nuts well.
- Spoon batter into a greased 8-inch cake pan and bake at 350° for 20 to 30 minutes.
- Cool, then cut into bars.
- Yields about 16 bars.
