Ingredients

  • 3/4 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. chopped nuts
  • 1 c. sliced dates

Method

  • Mix the baking powder, salt and flour.
  • Mix dates and nuts through the flour with fingertips.
  • Beat eggs until light.
  • Beat in sugar gradually.
  • Stir in dry ingredients, nuts and dates. Spread mixture evenly over pan lined with paper or well-greased and dusted with flour.
  • Bake at 350° for 30 minutes or until the surface will spring back when pressed lightly with one finger. Cut in strips 1 x 4-inches.
  • Will make 18 bars.
