Ingredients

  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1/3 c. cocoa
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/3 c. flour
  • 3 egg yolks, beaten
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 baked pie shell

Method

  • Mix together the sugar and flour.
  • Add the milk and cook in double boiler until thick, about 15 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and add beaten egg yolks.
  • Mix cocoa with enough boiling water to make a paste.
  • Add paste to mixture in double boiler.
  • Return to heat and cook until thick.
  • Remove from heat.
  • Add butter and vanilla. Cool and pour in baked pie shell.
  • Top with meringue.
  • Brown in 325° oven.
