Ingredients

  • 1 c. flour
  • 1 c. cornmeal
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 1/4 c. milk
  • 1 tsp. sugar (optional)
  • 1 Tbsp. bacon grease

Method

  • Put 1
  • tablespoon
  • bacon grease in iron skillet and put in oven
  • to
  • heat.
  • Turn
  • oven on to 425°.
  • (Heating pan first keeps the
  • cornbread
  • from
  • sticking.)
  • Mix
  • all ingredients together: flour, cornmeal, salt, baking powder, egg, milk and sugar. Stir lightly and pour in greased pan in oven.
  • Cook 20 to 25 minutes.
