Ingredients
- 8 to 10 large cucumbers
- 2 qt. vinegar
- 4 lb. sugar
- 2 tsp. pickling spices
- 1 c. slaked lime and 1 gal. cold water, mixed
Method
- Slice cucumbers and cover with lime water, using crock or plastic container (not metal).
- Let stand for approximately 24 hours.
- Drain cucumbers and cover with mixture made of vinegar, spice and sugar and let soak overnight.
- Next morning, simmer for 25 to 30 minutes and seal in sterilized jars.
- (Do not cover while cooking.)
