Ingredients

  • 1 c. ham, cut in small cubes
  • 3 c. water
  • 2 c. fresh broccoli, chopped
  • 1 c. cauliflower, chopped
  • 1 c. carrots, cut
  • 1 c. celery, cut
  • 1 1/2 to 2 c. potatoes, cut
  • 1 (14 1/2 oz.) can Swanson chicken broth
  • 3 Tbsp. onion soup mix
  • 1/4 tsp. thyme
  • 1/8 tsp. basil
  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper
  • 4 Tbsp. butter or margarine
  • 1/2 c. flour
  • 2 1/2 c. milk
  • 1 1/2 c. shredded Cheddar cheese

Method

  • Boil ham and water 3/4 to 1 hour on simmer.
  • Add chicken broth and seasonings to ham and water along with chopped vegetables. Bring to a boil and then cook on low for about 45 minutes.
