Ingredients

  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. soft shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 c. milk
  • 3/4 c. orange juice
  • 4 tsp. grated orange rind
  • 3 c. flour
  • 3/4 c. chopped nuts
  • 1 c. frozen cranberries, halved
  • 1 tsp. salt

Method

  • Heat oven to 350°.
  • Grease a loaf pan, 9 x 5 x 3-inch.
  • Mix sugar, shortening and egg thoroughly.
  • Stir in milk.
  • Blend in dry ingredients; stir in.
  • Blend in cranberry halves and nuts.
  • Pour into pan.
  • Bake 60 to 70 minutes.
  • (Crack in top of the loaf is characteristic.)
  • Cool thoroughly before slicing with a very sharp serrated knife.
