Ingredients

  • 3 pkg. yeast
  • 3/4 c. water
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 3/4 c. oil
  • 6 tsp. salt
  • 3 c. hot milk (or 2 c. water and 1 c. milk)
  • 3/4 c. cold water
  • 6 eggs

Method

  • Heat 2 c. water and 1 c. milk.
  • Soften yeast in warm water; let set.
  • Combine sugar, oil and salt in large bowl; add hot milk; then add cold water.
  • Add eggs that have been whipped a little. Add yeast and mix.
  • Add between 7 and 9 c. flour, until a stiff batter.
  • Spread a large quantity of flour and pour out batter. Knead dough for about 7 minutes. Put into a greased bowl and let rise until doubled.
  • Punch down and turn over.
  • Let rise 30 minutes.
  • Turn out and shape into rolls or loaves and let rise double.
  • Bake at 375° until golden brown.
  • Brush with butter.
