- 2 lb. beef for stew
- 2 large onions, sliced
- 2 Tbsp. Crisco oil
- 1 (4 1/2 oz.) jar whole mushrooms
- 2 c. Cheddar cheese, grated
- 4 medium potatoes, sliced
- 1 can mushroom soup
- 3/4 c. milk
- 3/4 c. sour cream
- cracker crumbs
Method
- Season meat and brown in oil with onions.
- Drain mushrooms and add enough water to make 1 cup.
- Stir liquid into meat.
- Simmer until tender.
- Put meat mixture in 9 x 13-inch pan.
- Arrange potatoes on meat.
- Mix soup, milk and sour cream.
- Pour over potatoes.
- Sprinkle with cheese.
