Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1/2 c. chopped onion
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 15 oz. can tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 to 1 1/2 tsp. chili powder
  • dash of cumin (optional)
  • 1 lb. (10) hot dogs, heated
  • 10 hot dog buns, toasted
  • chopped onion (optional)

Method

  • Brown beef slowly, but thoroughly, breaking it up with a fork until crumbly.
  • Drain off fat.
  • Return to pan and stir in water, onion, garlic, tomato sauce and seasonings.
  • Simmer until thick, about 20 minutes.
  • Serve over heated hot dogs in toasted split hot dog buns.
  • Garnish with chopped onion, if desired.
