Ingredients

  • 1 (8 to 9-day old) loaf French bread, cut into 1-inch slices
  • 3 eggs
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 1/4 c. milk
  • 1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 6 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 c. margarine
  • 1 c. fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 1 c. sliced strawberries

Method

  • Grease a 9 x 13-inch baking dish.
  • Place bread slices in dish. Lightly beat eggs, sugar and vanilla.
  • Stir in milk; pour mixture over bread.
  • Turn bread to coat well. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
  • Combine flour, brown sugar and cinnamon.
  • Cut in margarine until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Turn bread over again.
  • Scatter blueberries over bread.
  • Sprinkle evenly with crumb mixture.
  • Bake at 375° for 45 minutes or until golden brown. Top with strawberries to serve.
