Ingredients

  • FOR THE DRESSING:
  • 1 whole Egg, Beaten
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1 cup Half-and-Half Cream
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1/3 cups Brown Sugar
  • 1/8 cups Flour
  • 1/8 cups Cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 cups Mayonnaise Or Miracle Whip
  • 2 Tablespoons Dill (optional)
  • FOR THE SALAD:
  • 3 heads Cabbage, Shredded
  • 2 whole Carrots, Shredded
  • 3 stalks Green Onions, Sliced

Method

  • In a saucepan, beat the egg lightly. Whisk in the water, cream, sugars, flour, cornstarch, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil and cook for 2 minutes. Cool completely, then stir in the mayonnaise and dill. Cover tightly and store in the refrigerator for up to a week.
  • To prepare a salad, mix the salad ingredients together with the dressing in a very large bowl. Serves 40-50 people.
