Ingredients
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 1/2 Tbsp. flour
- 2 1/2 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 3 c. milk
- 3/4 c. coconut
- 3 egg yolks, beaten
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 3 egg whites
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 1/8 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1 (9-inch) baked pie crust
Method
- Mix
- together
- flour,
- cornstarch,
- sugar and salt.
- Add milk. Cook
- until thick.
- Add 1/2 of the mixture to egg yolks. Stir well.
- Add other 1/2 of mixture.
- Stir well and return to same saucepan.
- Cook 5 minutes longer.
- Add coconut and vanilla.
- Put in baked pie crust.
