Ingredients

  • 2 lb. ground chuck
  • 1 envelope onion soup mix
  • 2 tsp. monosodium glutamate
  • 1/4 c. pkg. dried bread crumbs
  • 2 (14 oz.) bottles hot, tangy or spicy catsup
  • 1 (10 oz.) jar apple jelly
  • 1 egg

Method

  • Mix together ground chuck, onion soup, egg, m.s.g. and bread crumbs.
  • Form into bite-size meat balls.
  • Arrange on cookie sheets.
  • Brown in a 350° oven for about 15 minutes.
  • Stir together catsup and jelly until blended; heat over medium heat.
  • (I use crock-pot.)
  • Add meat balls.
  • Simmer until ready to use (at least 1 hour).
