Ingredients

  • 1 cake yeast or 1 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1/4 c. warm water
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. shortening
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. warm milk
  • 3 c. flour

Method

  • Heat oven to 375°.
  • Mix yeast and warm water.
  • Add sugar, salt, shortening and warm milk.
  • Stir well.
  • Add eggs and stir.
  • Add flour 1 cup at a time.
  • Place in greased bowl and cover with towel and let rise in warm place 30 minutes.
  • Roll out about 1/2 to 1 inch thick.
  • Spread soft oleo on dough, thick.
  • Sprinkle with mixture of 3/4 cup sugar and 2 teaspoons cinnamon.
  • Roll from long side like jelly roll.
  • Slice and place on cookie sheet and let rise (covered) for 30 minutes.
  • Bake for 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Ice with a thin powdered sugar icing.
