Ingredients

  • 2 c. sifted flour
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 4 Tbsp. shortening
  • 2/3 c. milk
  • brown sugar
  • butter, softened
  • cinnamon

Method

  • Sift flour, baking powder and salt together.
  • Cut shortening into flour mixture until it looks like rice grains.
  • Add milk to flour mixture gradually.
  • Stir with fork until it forms soft dough; knead.
  • Roll to 1/4-inch.
  • Spread with melted butter. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
  • Roll into pinwheels; cut into 12 biscuits.
  • Bake at 425° for 12 to 15 minutes.
  • Yields 1 dozen biscuits.
