Ingredients

  • 2 lb. ground beef
  • 2 medium onions, chopped
  • 1 qt. water
  • 16 oz. tomatoes
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vinegar
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 Tbsp. chili powder
  • 2 tsp. ground cumin
  • 1 1/2 tsp. ground allspice
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. cayenne
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 lb. hot, cooked spaghetti
  • 1 1/2 c. shredded Cheddar
  • 1 c. chopped onion
  • 1 (16 oz.) can kidney beans, heated
  • 12 oz. oyster crackers

Method

  • Combine the beef, onions and water in a large saucepan. Simmer the beef brown.
  • Add the tomatoes and their juice, along with the vinegar, Worcestershire, chili powder, cumin, allspice, salt, cayenne, cinnamon, garlic powder and bay leaves.
  • Cover and simmer for 3 hours.
  • The fat will rise to the top; spoon the fat off.
