Ingredients

  • 2 lb. ground beef
  • 1 qt. water
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
  • 1/2 tsp. allspice
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
  • 3 Tbsp. chili powder
  • 1 tsp. cumin
  • 1/2 tsp. cloves
  • 2 tsp. vinegar
  • large bay leaf
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. cocoa
  • dash of Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 dashes Tabasco sauce

Method

  • Place raw ground beef and onion in water; stir until meat separates.
  • Boil slowly for 30 minutes.
  • Add remaining ingredients; bring to boil.
  • Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, for 3 hours.
  • Refrigerate overnight.
  • Remove fat.
  • Heat.
