Ingredients

  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. self rising flour
  • 3 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 2 c. water
  • 3 eggs, separated
  • 1/2 stick butter
  • dash of salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 (9-inch) baked pie shell

Method

  • Mix flour, sugar and cocoa together; add enough water to make a paste.
  • Add beaten egg yolks; mix well.
  • Heat remaining water with butter and salt until butter is melted.
  • Combine water and cocoa mixture; cook until thick.
  • Remove from heat and add vanilla; mix well.
  • Let cool and pour into pie shell.
