Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 6 oz melted & cooled choc. chips
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp light corn syrup
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 6 oz choc. chips

Method

  • Cream butter and sugar til light and fluffy.
  • Add egg yolks, melted choc., and vanilla.
  • Mix flour and salt together, then add to creamed mixture alternately with milk.
  • Mix well after each.
  • Stir in hazelnuts
  • Next beat egg whites to stiff peaks.
  • Carefully fold into the batter.
  • Spread into a springform pan.
  • Place on a cookie sheet.
  • Bake at 350F for 30-35 mins.
  • cool on a wire rack 10 mins.
  • Run a knife around the edge, remove sides of pan, cool completely.
  • For the glaze: bring the butter, corn syrup, and water to boil.
  • remove from heat, add choc.
  • chips, and stir until smooth.
  • Cool to room temp.
  • before frosting.
