Ingredients
- 2 c. milk
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 heaping Tbsp. cocoa
- 1/4 c. cornstarch or 1/3 c. flour
- 1 deep dish pie shell, baked
- 3 egg yolks
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Method
- Blend milk, sugar, cornstarch and cocoa.
- Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture thickens and begins to boil.
- Remove from heat and add a little hot mixture to beaten egg yolks, then add to main mixture.
- Return to heat and cook 1 minute longer.
- Add butter and vanilla.
- Pour into pie shell and cover with meringue.
- Bake at 350° for 12 to 15 minutes.
