Ingredients

  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 c. Crisco
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 3 c. flour
  • 1 1/2 heaping Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 small pkg. chocolate chips
  • 1 c. nuts, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Method

  • Cream together sugar and Crisco.
  • Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each.
  • Dissolve soda in buttermilk.
  • Sift together all dry ingredients.
  • Add by 1/2 cup to batter, alternating with buttermilk.
  • Stir in chips, nuts and vanilla.
  • Pour in greased and floured tube or Bundt pan.
  • Bake at 325° for 1 hour and 12 minutes.
