Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. butter (unsalted)
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 c. packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 pkg. semi-sweet chocolate bits
  • 1 c. chopped nuts

Method

  • Let butter stand at room temperature until softened.
  • In mixing bowl, cream the butter, shortening, brown sugar and granulated sugar.
  • Add the eggs and vanilla; beat well.
  • In a bowl, stir together the flour, soda and salt.
  • Add to creamed mixture and stir until well blended.
  • Stir in chocolate and nuts. Drop from a teaspoon 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375° for 8 to 10 minutes.
  • Yields 6 dozen.
