Ingredients

  • 1 c. softened butter
  • 1/2 c. solid vegetable shortening
  • 1 1/3 c. granulated sugar
  • 1 c. packed brown sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 Tbsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. lemon juice
  • 3 c. all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. rolled oats
  • 2 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
  • 2 c. chopped walnuts

Method

  • In a large bowl of an electric mixer, beat butter, shortening and sugar on high speed until light and fluffy (about 5 minutes). Add eggs, one at a time, beating well.
  • Beat in vanilla and lemon juice.
  • Gradually add dry ingredients to butter mixture.
  • Stir in chocolate chips and walnuts.
  • Use a scant 1/4 cup of dough for each cookie.
  • Bake at 350° for 16 to 18 minutes.
