Ingredients

  • 1/4 c. margarine
  • 6 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 3 1/4 c. powdered sugar
  • 1/2 c. dark syrup
  • 3/4 c. dry milk powder

Method

  • In saucepan, melt margarine over medium heat; stir in syrup and cocoa.
  • Bring to a boil.
  • Remove from heat.
  • Add vanilla, 2 cups powdered sugar and milk powder.
  • Mixture will be stiff.
  • Turn out onto surface dusted with confectioners sugar; knead 3 or 4 minutes or until stiff.
  • Divide into 4 pieces and roll into an 18-inch rope.
  • Cut into 3/4-inch pieces.
  • Wrap each in cellophane or waxed paper.
  • Store in refrigerator.
  • Makes 8 dozen.
