Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. German chocolate cake mix
  • about 35 caramels
  • 1 Tbsp. margarine
  • 1 c. chocolate chips
  • 1/4 c. milk
  • 1/2 c. pecans, chopped up

Method

  • Melt caramels in top of a double boiler with the margarine and milk.
  • Stir and set aside.
  • Mix cake mix according to package directions.
  • Pour 1/2 of this batter into a greased 9 x 13-inch pan and bake for 20 minutes at 350°.
  • When baked, pour caramel mixture over evenly and sprinkle chocolate chips evenly over caramel layer.
  • Put nuts on top of chips.
  • Add remaining batter and bake for 30 more minutes at 350°.
  • Cut in bars when cooled.
