Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. caramels (about 40)
  • 2/3 c. evaporated milk
  • 1 German chocolate cake mix
  • 3/4 c. melted oleo
  • 1/2 c. chopped pecans
  • 6 oz. pkg. chocolate chips or less

Method

  • Melt caramels and 1/3 cup evaporated milk in a saucepan over low heat.
  • Mix together cake mix, 1/3 cup evaporated milk, oleo and pecans.
  • Press half of this mixture into a greased and floured 13 x 9-inch pan.
  • Bake at 350° for 6 minutes.
  • Sprinkle chocolate chips over crust.
  • Spread caramel mixture over chips.
  • Crumble remaining cake mixture over caramel layer.
  • Bake 15 more minutes.
