Ingredients

  • 1 lb. steak
  • 1/4 c. shortening
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 c. bean sprouts
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 4 Tbsp. soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp. sugar
  • 2 green peppers
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 2 Tbsp. water

Method

  • Cut steak into 1-inch pieces, as thin as possible.
  • Heat shortening, garlic, salt and pepper in skillet and in it cook beef until brown on both sides.
  • Add soy sauce and sugar.
  • Cover and cook on high heat 5 minutes.
  • Add bean sprouts, tomato and green pepper.
  • Cover and cook 3 minutes.
  • Stir in cornstarch dissolved in water.
  • Cook until sauce is thickened.
  • Sprinkle with green onions.
  • Serve with rice.
