Ingredients
- 1 lb. beef steak, cut into small pieces
- 4 slices bacon
- 1 large onion
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 or 2 Tbsp. flour
- 1 can tomato paste
- 2 Tbsp. chili powder
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. cumin seed
- 1 Tbsp. oregano
- 1 can red kidney beans or pinto beans, cooked
- salt to taste
Method
- Cut bacon fine.
- Saute bacon, onion and garlic together in skillet.
- Add meat to this; sprinkle with flour and cook until meat is brown.
- Put this mixture into large pot.
- Add 1 can of tomato paste, the chili powder, the cumin and the oregano.
- Add a quart of water and simmer until meat is tender, about 1 hour.
- Add can of beans and continue cooking about 20 to 30 minutes longer, stirring occasionally, to prevent burning.
