Ingredients

  • 3 Tbsp. oil
  • 1 Tbsp. onion, chopped fine
  • 1 frying chicken (2 1/2 to 3 lb.)
  • 1/2 to 1 tsp. paprika
  • chicken broth
  • 3 oz. milk
  • 1 Tbsp. sour cream
  • 1 Tbsp. flour
  • Spoon Dumplings

Method

  • In a large heavy skillet, heat the oil. Add onion and cook until soft.
  • Add chicken pieces and brown. Sprinkle with paprika to taste and cover chicken with broth.
  • Cook, covered, until tender (about 45 minutes).
  • Remove chicken to heated platter and keep warm. Thicken remaining broth with milk, sour cream and flour, stirring constantly.
  • Arrange Spoon Dumplings around chicken on platter and serve with prepared gravy. Serves 4.
