Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 c. margarine, softened
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 c. cocoa
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips or 2 c. peanut butter chips
  • 1 c. pecans (optional)

Method

  • Heat oven to 350°.
  • In large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs and vanilla; beat well. Combine dry ingredients.
  • Gradually add to creamed mixture.
  • Stir in chocolate chips and pecans.
  • Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Bake 8 to 9 minutes.
  • (Do not overbake.) Cookies will be soft.
  • They will puff while baking and flatten while cooling.
  • Cool slightly, remove from cookie sheet onto wire rack.
  • Makes about 4 1/2 dozen cookies.
