Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. butter or margarine
  • 1 c. brown sugar, packed
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. quick rolled oats
  • 2/3 c. sweetened condensed milk
  • 4 oz. cream cheese
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • walnuts, finely chopped

Method

  • Bottom Layer:
  • Beat together the butter, sugar, egg and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla in a bowl.
  • Add flour, soda, salt and oats; mix well.
  • Pack into a greased 9 x 9-inch pan.
  • Set aside.
  • Beat milk, cream cheese and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla together well.
  • Reserve 3 tablespoons for icing.
  • Spread remainder over bottom layer. Sprinkle nuts over top.
  • Bake at 350° for 25 minutes, or until set.
  • Frost while hot.
