Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 c. sifted flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 c. soft shortening
  • 1 1/2 c sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 Tbsp. milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. chopped pecans
  • 1 c. chopped dates
  • 1/2 c. chopped maraschino cherries
  • crushed corn flakes

Method

  • Measure and sift dry ingredients.
  • Beat until light and fluffy the sugar, shortening, eggs, milk and vanilla.
  • Blend in the dry ingredients.
  • Add nuts, dates and cherries.
  • Blend well and chill. Shape into small balls.
  • Roll in crushed corn flakes.
  • Place on greased baking sheet.
  • Press 1/4 maraschino cherry in each.
  • Bake in moderate oven (375°) for 10 minutes.
