Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 c. flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 3/4 c. milk
- 1 1/2 c. sour cherries, drained (or 1 can cherries)
- 1/4 c. cherry juice
- 1/4 c. sugar
Method
- Cream together butter and sugar.
- In a separate bowl, sift together flour, baking powder and salt.
- Add milk and dry ingredients alternately to butter/sugar mixture; mix well.
- Pour into a greased 8 x 8-inch pan.
- Combine cherry juice and sugar in pan and heat until sugar dissolves; add cherries.
- Spread this over batter.
- Bake at 350° for 30 to 40 minutes until golden brown.
