Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 c. milk
  • 1 1/2 c. sour cherries, drained (or 1 can cherries)
  • 1/4 c. cherry juice
  • 1/4 c. sugar

Method

  • Cream together butter and sugar.
  • In a separate bowl, sift together flour, baking powder and salt.
  • Add milk and dry ingredients alternately to butter/sugar mixture; mix well.
  • Pour into a greased 8 x 8-inch pan.
  • Combine cherry juice and sugar in pan and heat until sugar dissolves; add cherries.
  • Spread this over batter.
  • Bake at 350° for 30 to 40 minutes until golden brown.
