Ingredients

  • 1 (2 layer size) pkg. yellow cake mix
  • 1 envelope dry yeast
  • 1 c. flour
  • 2/3 c. warm water
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 (1 lb. 5 oz.) can cherry pie filling
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/3 c. butter or margarine

Method

  • Measure 2 1/2 cups dry cake mix for topping.
  • Combine remaining dry mix, flour, yeast, water and eggs.
  • Beat 100 strokes by hand. Spread evenly in a 9 x 13-inch greased pan.
  • Top with cherry filling evenly.
  • Mix reserved cake mix, 1/4 cup sugar, cinnamon and butter with fork until finely grained.
  • Spread over filling.
  • Bake at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes or until cake tests done.
