Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 3/4 c. finely chopped onion
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • dash of pepper
  • 1/2 small bay leaf
  • 1/8 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/8 tsp. thyme
  • 1/8 tsp. oregano
  • 1 (1 lb.) tomatoes or juice
  • 1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 c. Minute rice
  • 6 stuffed olives, sliced
  • American cheese

Method

  • Brown meat; drain.
  • Add onion; cook until tender.
  • Stir in ingredients in order given, except 3 of the olives and cheese. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Spoon into baking dish and top with cheese.
  • Broil until cheese is melted.
  • Garnish with olives.
  • Serves 4 to 6.
