Ingredients
- 1/2 lb. butter
- 1/2 lb. Old English processed cheese or sharp New York Cheddar cheese
- 1/2 pt. whipping cream
- 1 (2 lb.) loaf unsliced white bread
Method
- Melt butter and cheese in pan over low heat.
- Simmer about 20 minutes, stirring frequently; cool.
- Whip cream and mix with the cheese mixture.
- Trim crust of bread, cut in half, and then cut lengthwise in thirds.
- Cut again into squares, measuring about 1 1/2-inches.
- Place bread cubes in mixing bowl and pour cheese over the bread. Lightly mix in order to coat the bread with the cheese mixture.
- Spread bread cubes on foil lined cookie sheets. Refrigerate overnight.
- Bake in 375° oven for 10 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
- This also can be frozen and baked at a later date.
- Serve warm. Yields 6 dozen.
