Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb. butter
  • 1/2 lb. Old English processed cheese or sharp New York Cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 pt. whipping cream
  • 1 (2 lb.) loaf unsliced white bread

Method

  • Melt butter and cheese in pan over low heat.
  • Simmer about 20 minutes, stirring frequently; cool.
  • Whip cream and mix with the cheese mixture.
  • Trim crust of bread, cut in half, and then cut lengthwise in thirds.
  • Cut again into squares, measuring about 1 1/2-inches.
  • Place bread cubes in mixing bowl and pour cheese over the bread. Lightly mix in order to coat the bread with the cheese mixture.
  • Spread bread cubes on foil lined cookie sheets. Refrigerate overnight.
  • Bake in 375° oven for 10 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
  • This also can be frozen and baked at a later date.
  • Serve warm. Yields 6 dozen.
