Ingredients
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 3/4 c. warm water
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 c. grated sharp cheese
- 2 Tbsp. caraway seed
- 2 1/2 c. sifted flour (about)
Method
- In a large bowl, sprinkle yeast into warm water; stir until dissolved.
- Stir in next 5 ingredients and half of the flour.
- Mix until well blended.
- Stir in remaining flour to make a soft dough. Turn dough onto lightly floured surface.
- Knead about 10 minutes or until smooth and satiny.
- Place in greased bowl.
- Cover.
- Let rise until almost doubled, about 30 minutes.
- Divide dough in half. Shape each piece into a 12-inch roll.
- Twist the rolls together; seal ends.
- Place on a baking sheet.
- Brush with melted butter. Cover.
- Let rise until almost doubled, about 1 hour.
- Bake at 375° for 30 to 35 minutes.
- Brush with butter.
- Yield:
- 1 twist.
