Ingredients

  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 stalks celery, chopped
  • 2 c. milk
  • salt and pepper
  • 1/2 c. buttered bread crumbs
  • 12 carrots, sliced
  • 1/4 c. butter
  • 1/4 c. flour
  • 1/2 lb. sharp Cheddar cheese

Method

  • Cook carrots.
  • Simmer onion and celery in butter.
  • Make white sauce by combining milk and flour; heat until sauce thickens.
  • Add onion and celery to white sauce.
  • Layer carrots and Cheddar cheese in casserole dish.
  • Cover with white sauce.
  • Top with bread crumbs.
  • Bake at 350° for 30 minutes.
