Ingredients

  • 2/3 c. butter, softened
  • 1 c. packed brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 2 c. flour
  • about 2 1/2 c. pecan halves

Method

  • Preheat oven to 350°.
  • Grease a 10 x 15-inch jelly-roll pan. To prepare cookie base:
  • In a large mixing bowl beat butter, brown sugar, vanilla and salt until light and fluffy.
  • Stir in flour 1/2 cup at a time, blending well after each addition.
  • Spread evenly in prepared pan.
  • Cover solidly with rows of pecan halves.
  • Bake 18 to 22 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Cool in pan on rack.
