Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 quarter pound ground sirloin
  • 2/3 cup thinly sliced onions... real thin
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • one hamburger bun
  • 1 tablespoon Sriacha Sauce
  • 1 tablespoon orange marmelade
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 slice American cheese
  • 1 handful shredded lettuce
  • 2 slices fresh tomato
  • pickle slices to garnish

Method

  • Heat a cast iron pan with the 2 tablespoon vegetable oil.
  • smash theburger patty on to a hot cast iron pan and smash the thinly sliced onions into the top of it.
  • Cook a minute to set the burger.
  • Mash the onions again in to the burger and flip it on to the onions.
  • Let them cook until golden brown.
  • Flip back on to the burger side to finish the burger to you liking.
  • Salt and pepper to taste at this point.
  • Flip one last time back on to the onion to cook them so that some are almost black and crisp, but not burned.
  • Toast the bun in the same skillet at this point making sure its a little crispy.
  • In a small bowl mix the Sriacha Sauce, Orange Marmelade and honey.
  • Slather on to the bottom of the bun.
  • Top with the onion burger, (onions up) your slice of American Cheese, tomatoes and bun top.
